In my last post, I stated my research objective. In a nutshell, it is to determine if my ancestor Elizabeth Crawford Torr is the daughter of Alexander and Mary (McPheeters) Crawford of Augusta County, Virginia.
The next step in the process is to create a summary of known facts. I'm not a big fan of spreadsheets, so I put my information into a table, arranged chronologically. In it, I included what I know to be true about Elizabeth Crawford Torr. I also included the death date for her proposed parents.
The second table is a summary of possible DNA connections to Alexander and Mary Crawford.
The next step of my research project is to create a locality guide for Augusta County, Virginina.

Wgo is the Alexander and Samuel listed above? The others listed are William's children?
ReplyDeleteAll of the people listed in the table are the children of the original couple, Alexander and Mary (McPheeters) Crawford.
DeleteVonda,
ReplyDeleteWilliam Torr and Elizabeth Crawford are my 5th great-grandparents too. I am very interested in what you are researching. Like you said, the Torr line is a mess at this point. I have a William Tarr (1724-1760) and Mary Troxell (1723-1795) as the parents of William Torr. There is no evidence of this except for other people's trees (which have no evidence of this). This has been bothering me and I sure would like to figure it out or at least get a better idea of what is correct. Please publish Part 4 if and when you get it done. I am on Ancestry and have linked my DNA test to my tree.
Thank you,
Gregory E. Lyon
Hi Greg, I believe we communicated through Ancestry once. I need to pick up this project again. With what I've found so far, I can't link Elizabeth, so my momentum slowed considerably. I did find one more clue I need to post about, I will try to do that one ASAP. Thanks for writing!
